Overview
This is Design is a celebration of the Design Museum’s permanent collection, ranging from early items of mass manufacture through to contemporary furniture, fashion, products and graphics. Following the themes of archetypes, identity, manufacturing, the digital revolution
and lifecycle, the exhibition examines the consequences of design for
both our individual lives as well as contemporary culture. Read more
Bibliotheque designed both the exhibition and graphics, presenting prototypes, drawings, models, first editions and finished industrial
objects. Highlights include a cross section of the original Mini, large scale architectural models such as Norman Foster’s HSBC Bank headquarters
in Hong Kong and a full size UK motorway sign.
An internally illuminated modular structure, creates a shroud around the central display area, its semi translucency providing a glimpse of the
exhibits to come. Mirrored surfaces provide alternative viewpoints of exhibtis, exposing construction details and finishing techniques.
A set of 3 limited edition screen printed posters were created to accompany the exhibition. Each taking an actual size crop of some of the exhibitions most iconic pieces. The posters are available from the Design Museum shop now, and our online shop very soon.
